Theme updates
New versions of the Spark Automotive Theme are delivered through the Shopify Theme Store. Here's how updating works — and how to hear about new releases the moment they ship.
Because the theme is distributed through the Shopify Theme Store, updates are safe by design: a new version never overwrites your live theme or your customizations. You choose when to switch.
How Theme Store updates work

Shopify notifies you
When we publish a new version, Shopify shows an update notice in your admin under Online Store › Themes.

Add the new version with one click
Choose to add the update. Shopify downloads the new version and places it in your theme library as a separate, unpublished copy.

Your live theme keeps running
Nothing changes on your storefront yet. Your current theme and all of its customizations stay exactly as they are until you decide to switch.

Review, re-apply settings, and publish
Preview the new version, re-apply or migrate any settings and content you customized, then publish it when you're happy. If you ever need to, you can go back to the previous copy.
Customizations are preserved until you switch. Since the update arrives as a new unpublished theme, your existing customizations on the current version are never touched. Migrating settings to the new version is a deliberate step you take when you're ready.
